You know you're busy when...

This is what happens when you're too busy to post on your blog - your friends miss the following stuff going on in your life: (but somehow, I'm sure they're not too worried about it!)

Lake Powell Trip - yes, this is the grin we get now when Scott thinks he has totally mastered something his friends haven't and he can't wait to get home and tell them all about it in Primary, totally distracting the teacher from actually teaching a gospel principle.

Disneyland Trips (yes, I used the plural here - still currently under the belief that I need to completely and totally brainwash my one and only child with everything Disney).

Swimming, swimming, swimming at Jenny's pool - enough that the fish might actually think we are related, but still not quite sure because we haven't yet mastered swimming without the life jacket...next year.

Trips to the beach - Scott passed his "Surfing on Sand" merit badge with flying colors, even to the point where he trained his cousin Luke, who is still working on the standing up skillz.

Matt and I took our first "Non-Scott" family trip, yes...I survived! Our traveling partners joined
us once again (I guess 6 years was enough time to recover from our Italy trip together), and we sailed the western Caribbean for a week...plus two extra days - thanks Tropical Storm Lee!

And of course, the BIGGEST event of the year 2011...the first day of Preschool (you may applause now). With true Fowers Style, Scott half-walked, half-ran to Preschool, gave a big hug and kiss to a teary-eyed yet proud Mom, and quickly decided that he loves school and anything that has to do with learning/playing. However, I do have to check his backpack for a stow-away Mickey every time. Mickey does love to learn, however, Miss Holli has asked that Mickey be home-schooled for now.

And now we're here again in the Fall - summer is almost over (although in Las Vegas, we extend summer temps to November) getting ready for all the holidays to start again. Already prepping for Halloween with our pirate costume purchased for Scott and getting decorations down from the attic! Stay tuned for more happenings...

Happy Mother's Day to the Best. Mom. Ever.

Yep. This is my Mom. I was talking to her the other day about how she raised 8 children (and is still raising us, even though we're all grown)...and I realized how much of her life she sacrificed for us. Of course, she was kind of forced into it with 6 kids under the age of 8, but she did it with style, grace, and unconditional love for each of us. I'm so glad she's my mom, and I'll always keep this image of her in my heart - the special smile she always seems to have for me. I just hope I can grow up to be exactly like her someday.

Love you Mom.

Backyard Happenings

We have been a little busy lately (reasons for the long time between postings...) and our latest projects - always one going on around here - is our backyard! We finally decided to bite the bullet and put in a patio and redesign the yard, and now it's under way. We hired an amazing crew to dig out, tear up, remove, replant, and layout our new patio and we LOVE it! Of course, we're on to phase two - the grass. Phase three will be the plants and bushes. Any suggestions of what grows easily out here are more than welcome! I've got my garden all planned out - get
ready for some fresh fruit and veggies!! Thanks to all the hard work from the crew this last week - we're loving it!
